ABOUT DBTC-CEBU

Our Brief History

In 1954, the Salesians of Don Bosco, led by Fr. Carlo Braga, SDB, expanded their mission to Cebu. Fr. Attilio Boscariol, SDB arrived on March 3, and shortly after, a modest building near the Cebu Cathedral was blessed—marking the birth of Boys’ Town Cebu, a sanctuary for poor and abandoned boys.

By 1955, the institution moved to Punta Princesa, a land donated by Don Ramon Aboitiz. In 1960, it received government recognition as Don Bosco Technical High School, though it remained widely known in Cebu as Boys’ Town.

With its growing educational vision, it was renamed Don Bosco Technology Center in 1994, following the opening of its College Department. By 2017, it adopted its current name: Don Bosco Technical College – Cebu (DBTC-Cebu).

Under Fr. Honesto Geronimo, Jr., SDB, in 2010, the school advanced its mission to form technopreneurs—young innovators guided by Salesian values. Senior High School was launched, and by 2019, the school earned PAASCU Level 1 accreditation.

In 2021, Fr. Fidel Orendain, SDB, PhD initiated a 5-year strategic plan on innovation and visibility before being appointed Provincial Superior. Fr. Jerome Dublois, SDB, succeeded him and continued this transformative path.

Today, under Fr. Randolph Figuracion, SDB, DBTC-Cebu remains a beacon of faith, skill, and mission—forming the young into good Christians and honest citizens for today’s world.
